The fees I charge vary from project to project depending on my level of involvement and the estimated time required to complete the work. The average novel or biography written from scratch takes between six to eight months to complete, while the re-writing of an existing work will naturally take less time. Because of the timescales and specialist skills involved, having a book ghostwritten for you is not cheap, but many see it as an investment from which they expect a return over time. As a rough guide the final fee usually equates to around £100 per 1000 words.

90% of the time, the author (you) pays the ghost (me) a set fee for the creation of the work and retains all copyright, royalties and future earnings. In some instances however, where publication has already been agreed or there is a very high chance of publication, fees can be combined with royalty percentages and therefore lowered, although this is rare. I don’t publish my ghostwriting costs because they would only be rough estimates based on types of book, so instead please contact me with a breakdown of your idea and I will provide you with a tailored quote. Payment methods are flexible, although an initial deposit is often required.

My proofreading services, which are suitable for works of all lengths and check for cosmetic problems such as spelling, grammar and punctuation, are charged at 0.4p per word for works of 30,000 words and upwards, which works out at around £320 for a typical length novel. Works of under 30,000 are charged at 0.6p per word. Please contact me to confirm a quote, stating the subject and length of your piece, before sending me any work. Please note - if you wish to recieve more in-depth analysis or amendments to your book, proofreading is not the right choice for you. Only an editor or ghostwriter will be able to effect such changes.
