Like most writers, I learned the hard way that having a totally fresh perspective on your work is one of the most crucial parts of the writing process. We get so involved with our work, reading it dozens of times over, that looking at it objectively becomes impossible…and then a friend comes along and shows us fifteen spelling mistakes we simply didn’t see! Proofreading therefore simply involves running a professional eye over a body of work and correcting technical errors such as spelling, grammar and punctuation - a crucial aspect of any submission to a professional body. I can proofread anything from a novel to an article to a cv and will spot errors that those not in the business of writing may miss. Proofreading is suitable to those who are confident in the quality of their work but want to ensure that it appears completely polished and perfected. For more in-depth analysis and changes, editing or ghostwriting is required. Whichever service you wish to utilise you can rest assured that, unless agreed otherwise, I will remain 'invisible' during the undertaking of the work and you will be credited as the sole author throughout and after publication of the work.

My proofreading services are charged at 0.4p per word for works of 30,000 words and upwards, which works out at around £320 for a typical length novel. Works of under 30,000 are charged at 0.6p per word. Please contact me to confirm a quote, stating the subject and length of your piece, before sending me any work. Please note - if you wish to recieve more in-depth analysis or amendments to your book, proofreading is not the right choice for you. Only an editor or ghostwriter will be able to effect such changes.
